Halo Burger unveils Beats x Beers Burger collaboration with Flint music producer

FLINT, MI – Two iconic Flint brands have teamed up to bring the Beats x Beers Burger to all Halo Burger restaurants.

Beginning Monday, March 1 through April 30, the burger can be ordered “Veggie Style” as a chipotle black bean burger or “Classic Style” as a quarter-pound, 100% beef patty.

The new burger option is topped with pepper jack cheese, Boom Boom sauce, fried jalapenos, onion, lettuce and tomatoes.

“This partnership was a natural fit,” Olivia Ross, Halo Burger’s director of marketing, told MLive-The Flint Journal. “Halo Burger and Beats x Beers represent the innovative spirit of the city of Flint and we’re excited to bring that attitude into our restaurants in a new way that we can share with our guests.”

Although the original plan was to launch the burger last year, the collaboration had to be pushed back due to COVID-19. However, through steady hard-work and patience, the reality of bringing two significant hometown brands together was setting in.

“We just thought, what better time than now to get things going, now that everybody’s getting back in motion, I thought it was a cool campaign to launch right now,” said Brandon Corder, music producer and founder of Beats x Beers.

“I’m thrilled to bring the Beats x Beers x Halo Burger collaboration to life,” he added. “I grew up with fond memories of Halo Burger and it’s crazy that today that I’m working to launch my own burger with them.”

Corder, born and raised in Flint, began producing music as a teenager, and graduated from Flint Southwestern Classical Academy.

In 2015, he founded Beats x Beers, a brand centered on music culture that through the years has grown from the single event platform at the SXSW Music Festival to a national event in multiple cities.

Originally started in Austin, Texas, Beats x Beers has been hosted in cities like Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Washington D.C. In 2019, Corder brought his festival to his hometown of Flint, under the name Beats x BBQ.

Since then, Corder has also hosted Beats x Brunch in Flint, a similar event to Beats x BBQ.

Halo Burger has been around for almost 100 years, serving its first burger out of a wagon on Harrison Street back in 1923. Since then, Halo Burger has become a hometown favorite, opening multiple locations across Genesee County.

“When you think about Flint, you think about perseverance and both of our brands are really great examples of that,” said Ross. “These brands are really special to the people that live here and so for us, it’s really important that we continue to honor that legacy of Flint, and honor Halo Burger, honor Beats x Beers, and honor the people that live here.”

Although the Beats x Beers Burger is only available for a limited time, future collaborations between the brands is always on the table.

According to both Corder and Ross, the two will “always be working together in some capacity.”

If the launch of the Beats x Beers Burger goes well, the option for keeping it on the menu for longer will be available. Furthermore, the two brands are always open to new and different ideas.

“There’ll be more that comes from these two brands specifically and we can’t wait to share them,” said Ross.

“The Beats x Beers burger is bold, much like the brands behind them and I can’t wait for everyone to try it out,” said Corder.

In addition to the Beats x Beers Halo Burger, the Beats x Beers team designed exclusive apparel that can be purchased online at www.beatsxbeers.com/haloburger or www.haloburger.com/beatsxbeers.
